Finally, another (real) Batmobile enthusiast! What a great website! Would love to see Franklin Mint, Hot Wheels Classics, or The Danbury Mint do a quality 1/24 scale model of the Batmobile. Do you know of any company doing scale reproductions of it? Lets start a writing campaign to these companies! I will be in LA 05/15 thru 05/18/98. Does Mr. Barris allow anyone to see #1? I don't have e-mail at home just yet (I'm doing this at work...oohps snicker)so if you could call me at 206-878-8494 I'd really appreciate it. This is by far my favorite website! Thanks!

Nice pages! I saw one of the Batmobiles here in Helsinki, Finland in a car show once, I think it was in the 80's. I even might have some photos of it at my folks' place... I also had the original Corgi Batmobile when I was a kid, but later painted it candy blue... maybe the value went down then. I still should have it somewhere. I don't have the original tires to it, so the tires are from a Lego kit, but the wheels are beautiful die-cast metal with the bat- emblems. There is only one type of real Batmobile! I also started to build a 1:24 model of it as a teenager (from a '58 T-Bird of course) but didn't quite finish it, destroyed the T-Bird kit though... :-)

Nice site, most folks do think Barris made the Batmobile from scratch. I'm a self-taught scholar of Barris, Roth, Williams, Kustom Kulture, etc. and this page is valuable reading. I am soon to begin building a car from the ground up, using all I've learned. Dentist by day, gearhead by night. I'd like to do some Kustom work in a patient's mouth- anyone interested in bridgework that looks like a Merc grille?

This is one of the BEST sites on the Net. I loved the TV show when I was kid. I have over 400 items in my "Batman Collection" but I trade them all for Batmobile #5. Also, I recalled seeing the Batmobile at a World of Wheels show in Miami in the early 80's. It had the Bat Fuzz, I never knew why until I saw your site. Keep up the good work and remember "...atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed!"

I can't describe the kind of joy I have when I Go through your site. The original Batmobile rules. The batmobile from "batman returns" is not too bad. The ones from the last two batman movies are just too far, too much(not believable,I think). The production team of today's batman films should be restructured and re-evaluated in order to bring back the originality of the batman created by DCcomics and the one popularized by the TV series. There should be a batman film in the future that uses the futura-based batmbile. Batman and robin should be wearing space age materials (not rubber, please!!!), something light and flexible, tight and elastic, for the effectiveness of their quick action. And this live-action batman film should be more serious in capturing what batman should be--The Dark Knight. Never mix up a live action film with a comic. Never. Because you want to portray a believable hero, not a cartoon character. That's why the last Batman film is a failure.

Holy Batmobiles! Very well done site. I've loved them all- from comics to TV to the movies. I learned a lot of stuff from this site! But my favorite was the Kilmer Car. I did get to see the 60s version and the Keaton car at a show here in Baltimore. Wish I could own one! Good luck.

Like most 41 year old men who were around 10 in 1966, I have always loved the show--but as much fun as the show was, the car was always the star for me! This site is fantastic and if I had the money, I would own a replica of the TV show Batmobile--it is absolutely the best! Great site and keep up the great work for the legion of Bat-fans out there!

I've been a big fan of the Batman tv series almost all my life. In 1986, I had the extreme pleasure of meeting both Adam West and Burt Ward at an auto show in Houston, Texas(luckilly for me we were living there at the time) and my father took me to the show where I got to take extensive pictures of the Batmobile there, but also of Adam West and Burt Ward(probably the last times they were allowed by the facist owners of Batman, Warner Communications, to be allowed to dress in their crimefighting uniforms.) I have a picture of myself with Adam West and Burt Ward and it my most prized possession. The last time I ever saw the batmobile again was in early 1994 at another car show in Baltimore, MD where I'm currently living.

Cool site Bud. I like all the bat gadgets but in my opinion the original will never be beat. I can still remember sitting in front of the tv six years old wearing my home made bat cape (clothespin optional) hearing those fateful words "Quick Dick, to the batcave! After our atomic batteries were to power and our turbines to speed we were off on another adventure. Cool Site Bud.

A very interesting site. The show has not been shown on TV here for a couple of years, but know doubt it will once again. Interesting information on the batmobile. Did it appear spongy in the suspension because "yank tanks" always were, or because of the weight? It is nearly as sexy as the Australian Chrysler Charger or the ill fated Holden Hurricane, two of the best looking Aussie cars ever made.

Hi John, Just thought I'd drop a line about your site. Glad I found it after it moved recently(?). Anyway I saw the Batmobile (#5 I assume) in North San Diego County around 1990 so I think it was when Santee, CA car collector Bob Butts had the car. I saw it at a movie theatre during a propmotion. It was love at first sight, as I'm sure you can agree since you have seen the car now. As an aside, I was going to repaint my current auto and was toying with the idea of a batman theme but it seems the legal obstacles to putting bats on your doors are too frightening to think about if what I read on your sight is any indication. I'll look for you on ICQ chat, my number is 6439341. A bit of Batmobile Interest/trivia -- In the film "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" look for the Batmobile to come around the corner of the Universal Studios back lot while Pee Wee's there looking for his bike. You've got to look close, but it's still cool.

The very first word I ever typed in on a "search" section on the internet was "batmobile", not expecting to find a thing, or if I did, something about the movie batmobiles. Imagine my delight in finding out that someone else in the world shares my sick obsession with this car. The futura batmoble has been in my blood like a fever every since 1966 when I was three years old and the show came on the air. Thank you so much for starting this web site. You've done a fantastic job. Keep up the good work. (P.S.-- a couple of years ago I read something in a magazine about a batmobile being impounded in Australia after it was involved in a minor traffic accident. Do you know any details about this?) { Nov. 23, 1997 }

Just surfed in from a kustom car page and I must say REALLY COOL site. Love those original episodes and the current movies. I had a black '86 vette with real dark tinted windows that my friends always referenced as the Batmobile (even though other than being black, had no other similarities). What an honor. I like you site. It has a lot of good information on it. The BATMOBILE was and is the best car ever made, all of them. In the news last year there was a guy who made a batmobile. It was a longer bodied car. The car was as long as a limosine. It looked like the 1989 batmobile. He was told by Warner Bros. not to make any profits from the car or he will have a big lawsuit. I would like to know the mans name , and would like to see some pictures of his BATMOBILE at this site if possible. THANKS CHUM!!

This site is the best. I am a big BatMan fan. I am buying the Batmobile from BatMan returns. I am also buying the Batmobile from the TV show. These cars are Replica's of course. It has been a dream of mine to own these cars. Any way, keep up the good work. I am in this site at least4 times a day. Thanks.

I guess we all had our own "Batmobile" when we were going up. Mine happened to be a '71 V.W. Beetle. I've always wanted to see one of the original Batmobiles, but haven't been lucky enough to do so yet. Your site is wonderful, keep up the good work.

Since I was a kid I've always been enthralled by the batmobile. The car made the show. I even fabricated sheet metal fins for my junker falcon in high school. Anyway, thanks for the incredible page!! I'll be back to visit it tomorrow!!

Good site. Lots of stuff--too much for me to see at one sitting. I'll have to look at it in installments, sorta like Batman episodes! :) I used to have a plastic model of the Batmobile when I was young, but can't remember who made it. Keep up the good work. P.S. I have added you to my ICQ contact list.

I read somewhere several years back that the Futura Batmobile was a modified prototype car that never made it into production. But I don't remember who made it before Mr. Barris customized it. If someone can e-mail me on this, I would apprecite it. Great page!

This website has caused alot of hours to simply slip away! I too am a fan of the TV Batman. Even as a little kid I said that "Someday,I'll build my own BATMOBILE!" Now that I am older I am re-addressing this topic seriously. While I am waiting for information from CY productions, I'd like to hear from anyone that has attemped such an undertaking. Once again, great site......To the Batmobile!

Thanks for the nostalgic trip! I was in sixth grade in 1966 and Batman was the best thing in my young life! You, clearly have a similar "history" This Batmobile is the COOLEST, most recognizable of any "Star-car".

The amount of info you have assembled on this wonderful car of my youth greatly exceeds anything I've seen in the past. I once saw and touched a "bat fuzz" model on display at the World of Wheels in the early eighties, and was painfully disappointed in the treatment. I'm glad to see they've given this up for new shiny black paint jobs. I have some pictures of my '73 Chevy Monte Carlo dressed up as the Batmobile for the Halloween of 1980 if you would be interested. Thanks for the memories and great job!

Just surfin' and I found this page--just spent about an hour looking thru the cool pages. I am glad to see other Batfans think that Adam West is the only REAL Batman, and the batmobile(s) shown here are the only REAL bat-cars. Thanks for bringing back a lot of memories... I'll be back again! Thanks! Tracy
